Sara Dodd graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a degree in Ceramics before relocating her studio to London in 2013. During her degree she under took a semester abroad to study at Sydney University’s College of the Arts before traveling extensively through South East Asia. Her work is often inspired by the natural world, informed through her exotic travels and the textures and patterns of nature.
Sara was drawn to porcelain for it’s delicacy and translucent quality, and it’s ability to play with light like no other material. Her work aims to capture the fragility of clay, by creating shapes and manipulating forms to give the illusion of weightlessness. She explores how individual units can build to create sculptures and installations.
Her work has been shown internationally including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the New York Ceramics and Glass Fair.
