ARTIST: MIRANDA THOMAS

Miranda began potting at the age of 16 in Sydney, Australia.  She did her BA course in Ceramics at the West Surrey College of Art in Farnham, England.  She worked with Michael Cardew at the Wenford Bridge Pottery for a year during her course.  Miranda exhibited in many exhibitions around England and later started working with Alan Caiger-Smith at Aldermaston Pottery.

She moved back to the USA in 1983 and started to design a line of pottery in the pottery studio for Simon Pearce. She went on to establish her own pottery and later combined with Charles Shackleton Funiture making in Vermont.  Her pieces have been given as gifts to 16 Heads of State as well as to Pope John Paul II.

Joanna Bird is the only stockist for Miranda’s work in the UK. The Mercury Gallery sells her work in Boston.
